Summit County and the Rockies may be a long way from New Orleans but locals and visitors alike still know how to celebrate the holiday! Beads, boas, and beignets are plentiful throughout the town among activities for all ages.

Festivities in Breckenridge will be held on March 5th starting at 4:30 pm. Line main street’s parade route to see some local creativity and gather as many beads as you can. After the parade, hustle over to the Riverwalk Center for a free concert (and free beer if you’re one of the first 200 people in the door!) Enjoy Mardi Gras themed costumes and delicious gumbo from the Lost Cajun.

Keystone will be hosting Mardi Gras in the Rockies with a family friendly gumbo competition! Bring your appetite and dancing shoes - Chris Daniels and the Kings will be rocking all afternoon - and even the kids! Once you’ve taste tested unlimited samples, make sure to cast your vote for People’s Choice – kid’s get to cast their vote for Kid’s Choice, too! Event starts at 2:30 on March 5th - tickets available in advance.

Don’t forget your four-legged friends! Enjoy a costumed parade for dogs and families. Parade starts at 3 pm on March 2nd in Frisco, traveling down Main Street. Enjoy live music and libations during Yappy Hour along with authentic gumbo and beignets. All proceeds benefit Hope for Animals – Clear Creek Rescue which provides assistance for animals through rescue, shelter services, and public education.
