For the adventurous pup, take a ride on Breckenridge Resort’s Gondola- it is pet-friendly and an excellent way to take in some breath-taking Summit County views. The gondola cruises over Cucumber Gulch, a 77 acre designated wildlife preserve. While dogs are not allowed in the wetland preservation area, they are allowed to explore the base of Peaks 7 and 8. Hiking and snowshoeing trails are popular for many dog owners and leashed dogs are allowed on almost every trail. Outside of town, dogs are allowed off leash as long as they stay under voice command.
Spend a laid-back day exploring the town. While all dogs must be on a leash, they are allowed pretty much anywhere in downtown areas, including inside many stores and several patios. Stop by Broken Compass Brewing in Breckenridge where you can enjoy a local craft beer and Fido can roam the brewery’s bar area, socializing with other mountain dogs. If you’re staying in Frisco, check out Tavern West on Main Street. This dog-friendly patio for your well-behaved furry friend has an excellent view of Mount Royal and surrounding peaks as well as happy hour specials and a varied menu. Summit County offers many options for dining out with your pooch and many keep their patios heated throughout the winter.
If you’re pup just needs some time to socialize and stretch their legs, head to the Carter Park Dog Park located at the south end of High Street in Breckenridge. This one acre fenced in space is the perfect space to get a little exercise while staying in town.
