With so many restaurants, boutiques, and galleries lining Main Street and the resort just steps away, you won’t need more than your feet to get around Breckenridge’s historic district. But those looking to explore a little more of the area are in for a treat – free shuttles around town, gondolas to and from the resort, bike paths to take in the gorgeous scenery, and plenty of private services to get out to those remote spots on the edge of town.

The Breckenridge Free Ride is designed for efficiency in getting around town while still being able to take in some of the sights. The color-coded bus system follows four routes (plus a downtown trolley) and moves passengers around town with ease – at no charge!  The Free Ride even connects to Summit Stage, the free bus system that delivers riders all over Summit County to ski areas, outlet shopping, restaurants and more.

Only in Colorado could you ski from one end of town to another. Take the ‘scenic route’ with the BreckConnect Gondola, located on the north side of town. With stops at Shock Hill, Base of Peak 7 and Base of Peak 8, you’ll be able to ski your way (with a few connecting lifts) to the south side of town, taking in all of the views along the way! BreckConnect Gondola operates for free for all locals and visitors. Local tip: it is also the fastest way to some of the best terrain Breckenridge Resort has to offer! (A ski pass is required to use Breckenridge Resort lift services.)

If you’re visiting during the summer or catch one of the many bluebird sunny days, Summit County maintains more than 50 miles of paved bike paths connecting Breckenridge, Frisco, Copper Mountain, Dillon and Keystone. As much as Breckenridge is a ski town, it’s also a mountain bike haven and these paths are popular routes between slope side trails.

When public transportation doesn’t quite reach that out of the way trailhead or you’re looking for a more private ride, several companies serve the area, including 453 TaxiJake’s Mountain Shuttle (customized trailhead shuttles for hikers and cyclists), and today’s popular Uber and Lyft (both operating all year but are more reliable during the ski season.) Most outfitters operate shuttles from downtown for activities like rafting or snowmobiling.

River Ridge Rentals is a top choice in Breckenridge accommodations, featuring fantastic amenities, gorgeous views and luxury locations. Trust River Ridge Rentals to make the best recommendations tailored to your vacation style. Contact us today to book your reservations!
